Hovercraft maintenance centers on the rubber skirt, which wears quickly on abrasive surfaces and must be inspected and patched regularly. Lift and thrust fans require frequent bearing and blade inspections. However, because hovercraft operate at low altitudes and speeds, structural stresses are modest, and corrosion management is straightforward with routine washing.

Ekranoplanos face more demanding maintenance. Constant exposure to salt spray at high speeds accelerates corrosion of airframes, control surfaces, and engine nacelles. Wing structures must be inspected for fatigue cracks, and composite skins require UV and moisture protection. Turbine or turboprop engines demand strict overhaul schedules.
